Five Happy Things

Five Happy Things {Week 28/2025}

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me smile in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures.

Five Happy Things {Week 28/2025}

We’re currently on our third heatwave of the summer here in the UK. Last weekend we escaped the heatwave and went to see the latest Jurassic World film, Jurassic World Rebirth. I actually really enjoyed it and found it entertaining and fun, just what I needed.

I set myself a goal to complete the Pretty Fabrics & Trims huswif kit my husband gave me a few years ago. I’m pleased to say I completed it this week and I love it. There are a few bits of binding I need to touch up as it didn’t quite catch both sides but I FINISHED it! I’d quite like to alter it a little to make it more useful to hold some of my most well used sewing notions, but we’ll see. I’m just glad to have put it together – one less craft kit looking at me.

My husband and son went to Goodwood Festival of Speed again whilst I stayed at home and looked after the dog. This seems to be an annual trip for them now and they had the most amazing weather for their day.

I received a copy of the Unofficial Bridgerton Embroidery by Hilary Leslie featuring 20 patterns inspired by the World of Regency Romance. Having read the Bridgerton books and enjoyed the Netflix adaptations, I thought I would enjoy this craft book. The patterns are fun and I’m already to start stitching one of them this week.

Eastcote House Gardens

We have survived our third heatwave and spent the morning walking the dog at Eastcote House Gardens. They have a gorgeous walled garden which is at its best in the summer months. I took some photos as inspiration for our own garden next year.

Let me know what made you smile this week.

  5. Eastcote House Gardens looks lovely! And it is always nice when the weather is nice as well. I totally missed that there is a new Jurassic movie, so I’ll have to look out for that.

  6. What a lovely idea to focus on five happy things each week, especially when it’s so hot outside! It sounds like you had a wonderful mix of fun, accomplishment, and relaxation, from Jurassic World to your walks in Eastcote House. Thank you for sharing these cheerful moments!
