Axe throwing with Game of Throwing {with teenagers}

Our youngest teen suggested she would like to try axe throwing so I found Game of Throwing in Hammersmith. With both teenagers on a half term break I booked an hour session so we could try axe throwing with Game of Throwing.

It turns out that both teens have tried axe throwing a few times with Scouts so it was just us parents who needed some help from the Axe Master. We were shown our lane and given a brief introduction to the set up.  Our hour session meant we could choose from the selection of games and the electronic score board would add up all the points.

We were also given some help in how to throw the axes using one hand or two. If the axe doesn’t hit the board it falls to the ground and you can record a miss on the score board. After a few practice rounds we were ready to go.

Our first game was a bit like darts, trying to score the most points by hitting the target. Your timer ticks down so we tried to play as quickly as we could, there was also only one axe which meant you had to wait for the previous player to place the axe in the box and get out of the lane before the next person went in.

Despite the sharp axes it felt very safe and there was always a member of staff around to give advice on throwing technique.

We managed to try a few different games and we all really enjoyed our axe throwing experience. It was something a little different and a fun way to spend an hour together. Coupled with a yummy lunch in a local restaurant and some shopping it made for a fun half term treat.

Game of Throwing have a few venues around the UK and we would recommend if you have lively teens who love to try something new.
