I don’t know about you but I love craft books. They are packed full of inspiration and I just love discovering new artists, new crafts and inspiration for my latest make. Pen and Sword Books, and their lifestyle imprint White Owl, kindly sent me a selection of craft books to enjoy. Let me tell you about them, and read on for your chance to win the same selection below!
Pen and Sword Books publish a range of lifestyle books covering book binding to crochet, needle felting to spinning and all the crafts I enjoy too, such as embroidery, quilting and paper crafts. The three books I received were Floral Embroidery by Teagan Olivia Sturmer; Modern Rainbow Patchwork Quilts by Paula Steel; and Paint, Make, Create by Becki Clark.
Floral Embroidery: Create 10 beautiful modern embroidery projects inspired by nature by Teagan Olivia Sturmer
Each project features easy-to-follow steps, detailed photographic walk-throughs and templates to trace on your fabric. Starting with basic projects for compete beginners, you’ll build on your embroidery skills by learning new embroidery stitches and techniques. Once you’ve mastered all the stitches, you’ll be ready to tackle the more detailed and intricate designs. Stitched in beautiful muted colours, each project is inspired by a Shakespearean quote and celebrate the author’s love of flowers.
Modern Rainbow Patchwork Quilts: 14 vibrant rainbow quilt projects, plus handy techniques tips and tricks by Paula Steel
This inspirational book features 14 colourful contemporary patchwork tutorials. Each project is broken down into easy-to-follow steps accompanied by detailed illustrations, advice on fabric choices and expert hints and tips to get you started. The cushion and mini projects are perfect for complete beginners, offering small-scale options that can be completed within a day. Once you’ve developed your skills, you’ll be ready to tackle the six tutorials showing you how to create vibrant large-scale bed quilts, lap quilts, and a picnic blanket.
Paint, Make and Create: A Creative Guide with 25 Painting and Craft Projects by Becki Clark
Paint, Make & Create showcases seasonal, multi-craft projects all woven together by painting. Designed for all abilities, the 20 engaging activities will guide you through the seasons and include working with clay, printing, collaging, sewing and embroidery with a fun and modern painterly twist. Featuring contemporary craft projects, from creating painterly table settings for Summer gatherings right through to painting Christmas gifts and decorations.
The books are priced around £12 each and all available from Pen and Sword Books.
