Yesterday we stocked up on Halloween sweets for any Trick or Treaters who come calling this month. My children love celebrating Halloween and I think it’s a really fun time of year. Today I wanted to share our free Halloween Q-Tip painting templates. Painting with Q-tips (also known as cotton swabs or buds here in the UK) and watercolour paint is a classic process art project for kids This art activity is perfect for toddlers, preschoolers, and children.
As well as being a fun Halloween activity, this is also a great way to introduce children to the concept of Pointillism. The first pioneer of Pointillism was French painter Georges Seurat, who founded the Neo-Impressionist movement. One of his greatest masterpieces, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte (1884–1886), was one of the leading examples of Pointillism.
Free Halloween Q-Tip painting templates
Our free Halloween Q-Tip painting templates feature six colourful Halloween templates: candy corn, sweets, pumpkin, witches hat and a spooky bat.
Our printable Q-tip painting templates are great for challenging your little one’s fine motor skills. Plus, they are a lot of fun! They are a wonderful and simple way to help develop a child’s fine motor skills. The fine ‘pinch’ grip required to hold the small q-tip and to move it around the paper to paint is ideal for building on those smaller muscles of the hand.
How to use our free printable
Print the six pages of the Halloween Q-Tip painting templates at home.
Go on a colour hunt with your child to find the corresponding paints (each sheet is clearly labelled with the suggested paints), and set your child up by covering your craft area with newspaper, paints and Q-Tips (or a paint brush).
Then let your child have some Halloween creativity, filling in the dots on each sheet.
Leave to dry and then display your Halloween art work for all to see.
We hope that you enjoy using our free printable. Please note this printable is for personal use only. Not for redistribution. All images are copyrighted.
