A few weeks ago we managed to book tickets to visit Chenies Manor and Gardens in Buckinghamshire. This was a place we had wanted to visit for a while, so booked tickets for their special open gardens. Chenies Manor is a gorgeous Grade 1 Tudor mansion house with lovely gardens.
Exploring Chenies Manor and Gardens
We pre-booked our tickets and drove the short distance to Chenies in Buckinghamshire. The village of Chenies is very picturesque and you drive right past the front of the house to get to the car park. The House is currently closed but we were able to explore the gardens which include a physic garden and maze.
The gardens are famous for their tulips and we loved exploring the different gardens, set out as ‘rooms’, each with a different theme.
My daughter loved exploring the maze and we all enjoyed the physic garden, stuffed full of all kinds of herbs which would have been used in Tudor times.
Our tickets included a cup of tea and cake which we enjoyed sitting outside.
Chenies Manor and Gardens is a popular place for weddings and we loved the metal pagoda in the grounds.
It was right next to Queen Elizabeth’s Oak which is named because Queen Elizabeth lost an item of jewellery beneath it when she stayed at Chenies.
