I really enjoy sharing some of the places we visit as a family. Since getting our dog last year we’ve explored lots of new places near to where we live on the outskirts of London. We’re really lucky to be close enough to London to go in when we want, but also have beautiful countryside at the end of our road. Last weekend we went for a walk through Black Park Country Park in Buckinghamshire. Black Park is just off the A412, in close proximity to Langley Park and the Pick Your Own Farm at Iver.
Black Park Country Park
Black Park has 530 acres of woodland, heath and open space, and a 14 acre lake with plenty of family friendly activities. It’s a really lovely place to explore and a firm favourite with our family.
We usually head for the lake and walk round it but we wanted to go a little further with our dog on our last visit. The lake is beautiful and you can see all kinds of birds and wildlife. Part of the lake can be used for sailing model boats and we have bought out own RC boats on a few occasions.
There are plenty of trees to climb along the way which kept my daughter busy.
There were a few geocaches around the woods and the children were happy to go off into the woods to find them. We also left a few painted rocks for others to find.
Our dog loved his trip to the park. It’s really popular with dog walkers and he got to meet lots of other dogs. As you can see it was very wet and muddy and he quickly turned from white to black!
What can you do at Black Park?
There is plenty to see and do at Black Park, these include:
Walk your dog
Sail your model boats in the designated area
Visit the children’s adventure playground
Go Ape Tree Top Adventure, Tree Top Junior, Nets and Segways
Geocaching
Hide painted rocks
You can also purchase hot and cold food from the Cafe
The park is open all year round and there is a large pay and display car park.
