I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I love to write. Life has changed considerably for us and everyone else in the UK over the last few months but we’re beginning to see a little more fun in our week. As the UK is no longer in lockdown I’m reverting back to the original title of this weekly post.
Monday Happy List {Week 300}
Looking back over last week and it actually felt like a normal week. My son had a few hours at school over 3 days and I went to work, which was really strange. It was so good to put on some proper clothes and catch up with some of my students and colleagues. I’m in again a few times this week and it will feel good to get some closure on the term before the Summer holidays start.
Our home learning continued although you could tell we were getting to the end of term. We concentrated on Maths and English and did a few Science experiments. I’m so happy there is only one week left of term!
We’re not huge pub goers but we couldn’t resist a trip to our local which re-opened. It was really lovely and easy to socially distance and our little pup loved meeting new people. My hairdresser also re-opened so I finally got my hair cut and the kids had their first karate lesson in months. It was held outside and they were in small bubbles, but they had remembered everything – I was so impressed! They really enjoyed their lesson so I hope the weather is good so they can continue to train outside.
We had a crazy weekend with socially distanced playdates and another socially distanced street quiz! It’s lovely to have such fun neighbours and we took chairs outside with some afternoon tea. Somehow we came third in the quiz which was amazing. The kids really enjoyed it, especially the raffle.
On Saturday I bought tickets to the first outdoor production to be held since lockdown began! I was looking for things to do and found Car Park Party which was organised as part of Henley Festival. There were lots of different events but I knew the kids would enjoy watching Horrible Histories Barmy Britain. It was quite good fun watching a show from inside the car. We were all parked at angles so we could see the stage – definitely an experience we won’t forget!
Have a great week everyone.

July 13, 2020 at 9:25 pmOhhhhh Car Park Party sounds fun! I reckon more things like that will pop up over the next few months, especially if we have an awesome summer! It sounds like it was a really busy week for you, you were certainly more proactive than us. I’m still enjoying the lockdown bubble, but realise I do have to adapt more to this ‘new life!’ Sim

July 13, 2020 at 10:15 pmIt is wonderful to hear that you are getting back to some sort or normality although it is not the same as you know it to be. I still have not popped by our local pub yet but can’t wait to.

July 13, 2020 at 11:28 pmDon’t get too excited about not being in lock down. We just locked down again here in California. I don’t think there is a “normal” anymore!

July 14, 2020 at 8:01 amIt sounds like the week was a lot better than the other weeks, not so normal yet but at least you all did some other activities, we haven’t done much yet as we still letting it all settle. (if we don’t go into a second lockdown)

July 14, 2020 at 4:10 pmIt is so lovely to have those little pieces of normality slowly returning. I am still working from home and am hoping to continue it for a while longer though.
