I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s usually a post I love to write but obviously life has changed considerably for us and everyone else in the UK over the last few weeks. Life is hard at the moment for everyone but I still want to try and record some of our happier moments.
Monday Happy List {Week 289}
My son loves sewing so we’re taking the opportunity to sew together. He gets frustrated really easily but he’s tried embroidery with an embroidery hoop, a blank canvas rainbow and finally made a start on a piece of patchwork I promised him we’d do years ago. We’ve been using my sewing machine to piece the squares together and it’s lovely to have a little project to do together.
I’ve been taking part in sew a little happiness everyday organised by Pretty Fabrics and Trims (find out more here). The idea is that you stitch a sampler, adding a little bit each day of lockdown. I’ve been making tiny hexies in some of my favourite Liberty fabrics, and adding bits and pieces from my sewing box.
The children have been set plenty of extra-curricular work from Cubs which is very welcome right now. They are not very motivated with their school work but enjoy the Cubs activities a lot more. As we weren’t able to attend our normal St George’s Day Parade they were asked to wear their Cubs uniform for the weekly Clap For Our Carers. It was lovely to see them in uniform and see everyone else dressed up via our Whatsapp group.
We packed away our Easter decorations and started preparing for May the Fourth (Star Wars Day). There isn’t much to look forward to at the moment so we’re crafting away for Star Wars Day. So far we’ve drunk Bantha blue milk and freed Han Solo from carbonite jelly. We’ve been planning a special Sarlac bundt cake for this week.
Our weeks have a lot of routine in them with school work and some online classes the kids are taking part in. It is really hard trying to get the right balance of keeping the kids up to date with school work, doing fun things and making sure they keep in touch with their friends. I am grateful the weather has been amazing the last few weeks and we’ve spent time in our garden planting seeds, making obstacle courses or exploring the neighbourhood on a walk.
Have a good week everyone – stay home and stay safe.

April 30, 2020 at 4:38 pmHaving a routine is the best thing to keep during this lockdown so you always have stuff to do and some sort of schedule 🙂

April 30, 2020 at 7:58 pmI’m noticing a lack of motivation with school work with mine. I find bribery helps lol. We’ve not sown any seeds but have spent a little time in the garden.

May 1, 2020 at 12:36 pmI’ve been crafting a lot just now too, it’s so therapeutic and a great focus. I hadn’t thought about making crafts for Star Wars Day but that’s such a good idea!
