I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s usually a post I love to write but obviously life has changed considerably for us and everyone else in the UK over the last few weeks. Life is hard at the moment for everyone but I still want to try and record some of our happier moments.
Monday Happy List {Week 287}
Technically last week was the start of our 2 week Easter holidays. I knew the kids would get bored easily, so decided to carry on with some school work in the mornings. Our local Cubs group finally got organised and sent some activities so we could do Cubs at home. The children loved having some challenges to complete and I hope we will get more to do.
The weather was amazing last week which really helped us stay at home. Our garden is small but big enough for a trampoline which my daughter loves. We enjoyed eating our meals outside, which was amazing for April. The kids ran through the sprinkler and tried to get the puppy to join in a few times too. We tidied up the mud kitchen and used it as a planting station to plant sunflower seeds.
It’s important to get out for a walk every day whilst we can. It feels like we’ve explored many of the footpaths around our house over the last few weeks. The kids wanted to learn a little more about where we’ve been so we ordered an OS map of our area from Stamfords. It will be great for them to learn some map skills! We usually go to Ruislip Woods as this is on our doorstep. The bluebells are absolutely outstanding already, definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.
We love to celebrate Easter and have been planning it for weeks. When we couldn’t get hold of any marzipan for our Simnel Cake we decided to make our own. It was a lot easier than we thought. It was the first time we had baked a Simnel Cake too, it was so delicious we had 2 slices yesterday!
As well as chocolate Easter Eggs we also bought the children some small Lego sets and Pokemon cards which they loved. They are finding it strange, not being able to go to our local toy shop and spend their pocket money at the weekends. Thankfully they are coping really well with the lockdown, managing to keep in touch with school friends, and keeping busy.
Have a great week everyone

April 14, 2020 at 1:22 pmThe bluebells look absolutely beautiful! Our Cubs meetings have completely stopped, they haven’t even bothered doing anything online which is a shame for Jack.

April 14, 2020 at 9:26 pmI love bluebells, there was a wood near us when I was a child called bluebell woods because it was just completely covered and was stunning! There are none near us where I am now unfortunately.

April 15, 2020 at 11:09 amMy kids are missing being able to play at the park, but I am glad we have a big garden for them to run around in. My 15 year old even asked me the other day when he would be going back to school! So they are definitely getting fed up

April 15, 2020 at 5:00 pmSounds like you guys are doing a great job at keeping busy and looking at the positives in this situation. The woods near you look amazing, I love bluebells! I wish we had something like this near us, we have been enjoying our daily walk but we live in quite a built up area so aside from one route along the stream we are quite restricted to where we can do.
Hope you guys have a great week too!

April 15, 2020 at 5:18 pmAhh I think a weekly happy list is such a good idea, especially during a time like this. We went for a walk last week to a woods near us for the first time and it was filled with lots of pretty bluebells.
