Let’s gloss over the face it snowed for 2 hours this morning. The children were really disappointed that the snow didn’t settle and by the afternoon I had the washing out – I love the whacky British weather ! Spring is one of my favourite seasons and I love watching the garden come back to life after the long Winter days. It puts me in the mood for Spring cleaning our house and bringing that back to life too. Which is lucky as it’s time to update our bedroom.
Our bedroom was last updated when we first moved into our house. The floor has a wood-effect vinyl which we kept, but we painted the walls and added a colourful feature wall. We haven’t touched our bedroom since then. I would love our bedroom to be a haven, respite after a long day at work and with the kids. Unfortunately it ends up being a dumping ground, full of the kids certificates and drawings (waiting to be filed away), and an endless supply of presents for the next birthday (hidden under the bed and in the cupboard).
There’s something about this time of year though, and I’d love to spend some time and energy on sorting out our bedroom. The first thing would be to cover the vinyl with carpet. The vinyl is dis-coloured and horrible so I would love to replace it. I have to get up early for work and would love to sink my feet into a plush carpet in the morning.

Our Ikea wardrobe needs to be updated. It was a cheap fix when we moved in but we’ve been planning a fitted wardrobe to fill the recess in the wall. We’re planning on taking a few days over the Easter holidays to fit the wardrobe, something with sliding doors with shelves and drawers. We need storage and I really want a place to store my Orla Kiely handbag collection.
Pinterest is my usual source of inspiration and I’ve been looking for interior trends for 2020. I’m not sure I want to change the colour of the walls but I will be looking to add texture with bed covers and cushions, as well as add more art to the walls.
I love changing the rooms in our house. It’s good to mix things up and update the places you spend so much time. Do you have any plans to update rooms in your home this Spring?
