I love having a cheeky walk though Lidl when I can. They always seem to have some nice products I can’t find on my normal shop. On a recent visit I picked up a gingerbread dough kit. I love baking but will always cut corners if I can, a packet mix or ready made dough is fine with me. I decided to make some biscuits for the kids to come home to, who doesn’t love the smell of freshly baked gingerbread?
Baking with the Lidl gingerbread dough kit
The Lidl gingerbread dough kit contained a block of ready made gingerbread dough, a cookie cutter, icing and sprinkles to make and decorate 14 gingerbread people.
I have a favourite gingerbread recipe but nothing beats just getting dough from a packet. I took it out 10 minutes before I needed to use it, grabbed some flour, a rolling pin and a favourite cutter. It was so quick and easy, the perfect baking hack!
The dough smelled good and was easy to roll. I used a Lego brick cutter as both the children love Lego. There was plenty of dough and I was able to roll the off cuts into a ball and roll it out a few times.
I filled two baking trays with gingerbread biscuits and baked them for 8 minutes until they had turned golden brown. I left them to cool for a bit, just in time for the kids to come home from school. The gingerbread lasted a few days and I would definitely buy the dough if I see it again!
