I hope you had a great weekend. I love to start the week by writing Five Happy Things. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.
Five Happy Things {Week 234}
I’m always thankful that my children enjoy school. My son was appointed an Eco Warrior at the start of Year 4 and finally got a badge to wear on his uniform. He loves having a job to do and attend meetings when everyone else is at assembly. He has been practicing hard for a Mother’s Day assembly at school and I managed to get the afternoon off work to go and watch him.
I was spoilt on Mother’s Day with a potted bulb and handmade card from my daughter. She was a little confused about what Mother’s Day actually was though, and presented the bulb to both Mum and Dad! The kids kindly decorated the outside of the house with colourful chalk too (and promptly covered themselves in chalk dust too!). I received a lovely embroidery hoop kit, Rebels Get Results from Cotton Clara, which I am looking forward to making.
We visited my mum on Saturday and took her out for a delicious lunch at The Three Horseshoes in Chapmanslade. The weather was lovely so we drove up to see the Westbury White Horse and admire the view. The children had made some handmade cards for my mum and we took some colourful Orla Kiely inspired cupcakes to enjoy too.
In my quest to finish sewing projects I’ve picked up my Shipping Forecast quilt and made some good progress with it this week. I’ve been stitching on the felt cut out onto some gorgeous Janet Clare fabric. It’s a nice project and I’m not in any hurry to finish it, I just want to see weekly progress!
I’ve also been using my Cricut Maker and Cricut EasyPress 2 at home. I made my mum a small planter for Mother’s Day, and labels for jars to help the kid save their pocket money. It’s really handy to have around and it’s also lovely to learn a new skill.
Have a great week.
