Have you been planning for Father’s Day which falls later this month? I love treating my husband, although I have to admit he can be a little tricky to buy for. Generally he is happy with handmade Father’s Day cards and a cup of tea in bed, which is great because, let’s be realistic, there’s little chance of a lie in at our house!
This year I wanted to make Father’s Day extra special for my other half. He’s the most wonderful husband and father, he works really hard to support us all and has been going through a tricky time at work.
I know that although my husband loves little gifts from the children he really dislikes the clutter than comes with them! They’re busy making Father’s Day cards at school so I thought I would treat him to a little upgrade of some of the things he already has, which are both practical and useful – just like him!
I know that he doesn’t expect much for Father’s Day but I’ve been busy sourcing some gifts which will last all year round, and thought I would share my gift guide in case it inspires you too.
The Father’s Day Gift Guide – aka what to buy the Dad in your life
Lego iconic brick calendar
My husband never knows what day it is so would love this calendar. It’s perfect for his home office. You can build the chunky number cubes and display them on the special stand with the ‘Dad’ mini-figure in shirt and tie, simply turning the number cubes every day to show the correct date.
Braun Series 3 ProSkin
My 6 year old really dislikes it when my husband doesn’t shave so the Braun Series 3 ProSkin is top of my list this year. Braun creates industry-leading grooming tools that combine state of the art technology and sleek design. The Braun Series 3 Shave and Style captures more hair in the first stroke, meaning Dad can shave with greater efficiency and skin comfort than ever before. This makes a great little upgrade of his existing shaver and, with his love of the latest technology, means it will be a definite hit.
Orla Kiely Grow Your Own Chillies kit
I love my kitchen windowsill garden and I thought my husband would enjoy this planter for his office. This stylish pot from Orla Kiely includes everything you need to grow your own chillies. The enamel planter comes in her classic Multi Flower Oval design which would also double as a stylish desk tidy when the chillies are used up.
Peroni Gran Riserva Doppio Malto
My husband loves to enjoy a drink after a hard day at the office so I couldn’t resist picking up a bottle of Peroni Gran Riserva Doppio Malto. This is a pure 100% Italian malt brand, brewed using the best two-row spring barley varieties. It has been created to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the brewery foundation, and it’s one of the highest quality beers of Birra Peroni’s portfolio. Characterised by an intense gold colour, it combines a fine taste of malt and caramel with a delicate fruity aroma. It goes perfectly with rich dishes so I can see myself cooking up something special to enjoy this with on Father’s Day.
Waitrose Duchy Organic Chocolate & Vanilla All Butter Shortbread
Last but not least! Baked in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, these Duchy Organic all butter shortbread biscuits use only the finest ingredients: Madagascan vanilla, chunks of rich dark chocolate and British wheat flour (including flour from wheat grown on Duchy Home Farm at Highgrove). Perfect for sharing after the children are in bed.
I’d love to hear what you think of my Father’s Day gift guide and if you’ll be treating someone special this Father’s Day.

June 6, 2018 at 2:37 pmSome great ideas here, I always struggle with my Dad because he is so fussy and has a tendancy to buy things just before Fathers Day. I love the idea of the Grow Your Own Chillis and the Lego calendar

June 6, 2018 at 11:12 pmThis is a great guide! Some may say that it can be cliche to get a man a shaver but it’s such a necessity for them and makes their life easier that one would be daft not to consider gifting one! x

June 10, 2018 at 1:11 pmSadly my Dad passed away a couple of years ago so I don’t have anyone to purchase these things for as such, however I try and help my daughters get something for the husband – usually it tends to be wine and clothing. This year however we are looking at activity days; maybe a fast car experience!
