Pom pom pumpkins and more

Posted on October 11, 2016February 9, 2019 by jenny

Now that my children are both at school full time I have found crafting is the perfect way for them to wind down after school. I love sitting at the table and talking with them about their day. I find they seem to remember more when their hands are occupied and it’s so much more interesting than the usual “can’t remember” or “don’t know!”.

It’s feeling much more autumnal this week and I’ve started to hang a few Halloween decorations around the house. We love to celebrate the seasons so were very happy to receive a box of Halloween craft supplies from Baker Ross.

The Halloween Dotty Art kit contained 8 x A4 sheets of pictures made from large spots. There was a Monster, Spider, Cat, Ghost, Pumpkin, Owl, Bat and Skull. There were also sheets of round stickers in three sizes so you can pick the colour and size needed to complete the pictures. My 4 year old loves stickers and these have been keeping her busy.

We love making pom poms  and the Halloween Pom Pom Decoration Kits contains everything needed to make 3 cute animals. So far we’ve made the Spider and Pumpkin and we still have the Bat to make. Poms poms are great for developing fine motor skills although I found I had to cut the wool into shorted lengths as my children kept getting caught up in wool! You decorate the finished pom poms with the stickers and we found this to be a fun no-mess craft.

The Day of the Dead colour-in mini gift bags make great decorations and are also the perfect size for mini Trick or Treaters. The design is printed on both sides of bag and there are 3 assorted designs with 3 assorted handle colours.

Another no-mess craft was the Haunted House Photo Frame Magnet Kits. Each kit includes a foam photo frame template, self-adhesive foam pieces and self-adhesive magnet. My children always enjoy putting these together. You can put a photo inside or I put blank paper inside ours and my 6 year old drew pictures.

These are fantastic ideas. I loved making pompoms when I was a child. I want to make these with Sylvia 🙂
