Monday Happy List – Week 106

Did you have a good weekend? I can’t believe it’s Monday again, time for me to write my weekly Monday Happy List post.

We had a pretty quiet weekend as both the children seem to be laid low with germs. They are adjusting to being back at school and seem to have had permanent coughs and colds ever since term started. They were both so tired that we didn’t even make it to their weekly swimming lesson which was a shame as they are progressing so well.

Fortunately we had been invited to try the new Autumn/Winter menu at our local Cafe Rouge on Saturday evening. This gave us something to look forward to and the children love eating out so they soon perked up a little. The staff treated them as adults so they were on their best behaviour and ate everything on their plates. I will be telling you a little more about our meal soon.

I commissioned a family portrait by the illustrator Helen Braid at Ellie Illustrates (which you can see above). She also came up with my new blog design, which I hope you agree is rather lovely.

Last week saw us celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary. I found a lovely design online and ordered a personalised version for us. Bronze or pottery is the traditional gift for such an anniversary and I love the simple bronze accents on this card. We were supposed to be enjoying a grown up lunch on Friday, making the most of both children being at school. Sadly my 6 year old was off with his cough and cold so we never got round to do anything more than exchanging cards.

We’re still busy working away on our new kitchen. The new cabinets were fitted but we had the ceiling re-plastered over the weekend and then started tiling the walls. A new kitchen is such a huge job, especially if you can’t afford to pay for someone to come and do everything! Fingers crossed we’ll finish off all those smaller jobs soon as I can’t wait to start on our living room.
