Wine corks are an ideal material for stamping and we have plenty of them. So I made up this simple football related craft to keep my children busy this afternoon. England will be playing their first match this evening against Russia in Euro 2016 which we’re really looking forward to watching later.
Cork stamped football craft
We used:
wine cork
Swann Morton scalpel
Black acrylic paint
White card circles (cut using my Sizzix Big Shot Plus and the Sizzix Bigz Die Circles)
I prepared the cork earlier, roughly marking a hexagon on one end of the cork, them cutting away the cork to leave a raised hexagon.
I made a few of these then set up the table with the corks and white card circles. I also prepared these earlier, using my Sizzix Big Shot Plus and the Sizzix Bigz Die Circles, but you could easily cut these by hand.
My children squeezed out some black paint then dipped their corks in the paint, stamping them on the white circles to make mini footballs. Corks are a great medium for stamping as they are short and stubby, perfect for little hands to hold.
My children loved this craft and this was a great low cost activity as we already had all the materials.
I think the stamped footballs make a cute banner.
We attached them to string with a piece of sticky tape on the back of each one, but they would make a great decoration for a Father’s Day card too.
