Every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have a drawer full of unopened kits but no more. I’ve been making more time for crafting and I love to try something new with each of the cover gifts.

Issue 61 ofMollie Makes came with a Gold Succulent Craft Kit. The kit made 4 different things so you could choose to make whatever you liked which I thought was a nice touch. You could choose from a brooch, necklace, a key tassel or plant pot holder. I opted for the tassel.

Jenny Makes Mollie Makes Gold Succulent Kit

The kit included:

2 sheets of faux leather in gold
1 sheet of felt in dark cream
1 brooch back
75cm of metal chain in silver
1 jump ring
1 lobster clasp

The instructions were really easy to follow which I was really pleased about after problems with the last issue.

Faux leather is really easy to cut so I used my Swann Morton scalpel, metal ruler and self healing cutting mat.

I hardly ever use my hot glue gun so I was pleased I could use it for this craft.

I applied the glue, rolled my tassel and held it in place for a minute to make sure it held.

The easiest 5 minute tassel you will ever find. I used both sheets of faux leather so made two tassels, hung one on the chain and the other on our Christmas tree. They make great, sparkly decorations so I may have to make a few more for next year!
