My children are 3 and 5 and obsessed with loosing their teeth. I’m not sure why they are worrying about their tooth, I think an episode of Peppa Pig may be the cause!
They’ve always been good about cleaning their teeth twice a day and regularly ask for new tooth brushes and paste. I’m not sure if they just like to try new things or are attracted by the displays at the supermarket though. I’m a little obsessive about them cleaning their teeth after eating sweets and I don’t think it’s a bad thing to teach them about looking after their teeth.
Recently they’ve been asking about their teeth and how they grow and what will happen when their baby teeth fall out. I’ve told them about the Tooth Fairy, I don’t see any harm in propagating that myth whilst they are young. My husband and I can’t agree on how much she will be leaving them though.
I love this infographic about the Great British Tooth Fairy from SunLife which shows the going rate as £1. I think this is spot on.
£1 is less than their weekly pocket money but considering how many baby teeth they have I know we will be leaving money under their pillows for a while.
I’d love to hear what you think. How much have you/would you leave for a visit from the Tooth Fairy?
