Books and babies is the theme for this weeks’ Listography over at Kate Takes 5. I love to read and I really want Edward to enjoy it too. We have books all over the house and keep a box of his books in the lounge so he can pull them out and look through them any time of the day.
The first book I bought for him was Faces (Baby’s Very First Book). It’s a simple cloth book with high-contrast images, crinkly pages and a mirror, designed to stimulate baby’s senses. Edward loved looking at this and we used it for his first couple of months.
He received the Lamaze Discovery Farm Soft book from a family friend. It’s a chunkier soft book and has lots of animals to learn about and noises too (made my mummy!)
The Very Hungry Caterpillar Finger Puppet Book was bought by daddy. Edward finds the finger puppet hilarious and we’ll be reading this book for a while.
That’s not my snowman was a Christmas present. Children learn through repetition and this book is really easy to read with Edward. He loves touching each page to feel the different textures, so much so that he touches all his books!
I bought him Ten Farmyard Babies just recently. At first he cried whenever he heard the different animal noises but he’s started to get used to the sounds. He loves to turn the pages and tries to press the buttons himself.
These are just a selection of the books we have and it’s great to record it and see how his reading habits have changed. Although we joined our local library I tend to buy a lot of books at charity shops. They are always in great condition and just a fraction of the price!

My B likes the touchy feely (and noisy too if possible!) books too. Lovely ones there for younger kiddies
