Qixels Turbo Dryer Playset review

I have been keeping my 5 year old busy over the school holidays. As well as days out we’ve had fun at home too, reading books, crafting and practising his writing.

He was sent the Qixels Turbo Dryer Playset from Character to review and this is an easy review to write as he absolutely loves it.

Qixels are the cubes that fuse with a blast of water. Add the tray and templates to your Turbo Dryer then add Qixles to build your design! Spray with water the press and spin to dry your designs super fast! Simply Make, spray, play – no heat, no glue.

He’s recently been getting into Minecraft so the Qixels Turbo Dryer was instantly appealing to him.

The Playset included 500 Qixels, 4 design templates, some accessories such as weapons for the characters, as well as the Turbo Dryer, bottle sprayer and a small instruction booklet. With all these parts you can create a variety of super cool Qixels characters and use them as bag charms or display them.

My son chose the design he wanted to make, placed the template on the tray (two are included) and got to work, picking the correct Qixels and putting them in the right place.

Once the design is finished you place it in the Turbo Dryer, spray the design with water, and spin it. Then you leave it to set for half an hour. Then you can peel it from the template, the Qixels having fused together.

It’s a little like hama beads or Aquabeads but I think the design of the products is very appealing to boys. The set is aimed at 4+ and my son is 5 and he had no problems with it. The Quixels are square so easy to get hold of and fit really well on the tray.

We loved the Qixels Turbo Dryer Playset and will be buying some more Qixels and templates so he can make more. My only suggestion for improvement is that they improve the storage tray, I think it’s a good idea to have one but it needs a lid so you can store it away when not in use.

The Qixels Turbo Dryer Playset is priced £19.99 and available from Amazon and all good toy shops.  You can buy refill packs with other designs.

I like that it’s a little different to other toys available.
