What I’m reading: Me Without You by Kelly Rimmer

Posted on October 15, 2014July 8, 2016 by jenny

These chilly evenings are perfect for curling up with a book. I’m not a huge tv fan so love to have several books and magazines on the go. Bahlsen Biscuits kindly sent me a copy of Me Without You by Kelly Rimmer to read which is the latest Bahlsen Book Club book. They also sent me a couple of packs of biscuits which were perfect to enjoy whilst reading.

The premise of Me Without You is as follows:

A year ago I met the love of my life. For two people who didn’t believe in love at first sight, we came pretty close.

Lilah MacDonald – beautiful, opinionated, stubborn and all kinds of wonderful in ways that words could never quite capture. The woman who taught me to live again.

My Lilah, who gave me so much, and yet kept from me a secret that she knew would break my heart.

My name is Callum Roberts, and this is our story.

This book took me a while to really get into and want to read. I read a few chapters every night before bed but didn’t like either of the main characters particularly. When I was about half way through I suddenly found it more engaging and finished it in one day!

This wouldn’t be my normal choice of book, I prefer something light hearted and this really wasn’t. The main character has a degenerative illness and, as the story unfolds from the point of view of each character, it comes to the obvious outcome.

I found it difficult to relate to either character and I have no experience of this kind of situation but the story is told beautifully. If you like an emotional roller coaster then this is the book for you.
