Win sweet dreams with Lenor

Just before Christmas I undertook the Lenor fresh sheet challenge, using the new Lenor fabric softener. I love my bed (and my Orla Kiely bedding!) so was very happy to try the new product out. My sheets felt lovely and soft and smelt of delicious Pink Topaz and Magnolia. Lenor gives fabric up to seven times longer lasting freshness by releasing scent through touch to keep them fresh and fragrant for longer – helping turn Fresh Sheet Day into Fresh Sheet Week!

I don’t know about you but since my children have come along I haven’t really experienced a good nights’ sleep. I love my bed after a long day with my children and nothing beats the feeling of clean sheets. New research by Lenor has found that a staggering 83% of Brits go on to have an unproductive day if they’ve not slept in clean, fresh bed sheets and 71% claim that sleeping in fusty sheets makes them unhappy.

I was offered the chance to have my sleep analysed by Sleep Expert, Sammy Margo. I was also sent a Sleep Sack full of little tricks to help me get some quality sleep, which included hot chocolate and a mug and a brilliant eye mask.

The results of my sleep diary, analysed by Sammy Margo, was that I’m a ‘clued up blogger whose children aren’t tired enough’. Eek. I was thinking this myself and even wrote about my toddler not seeming very tired the other week. She advised trying to exhaust them in the afternoon both mentally and physically and treating myself to a mattress topper to give my bed a more sumptuous feel!

  1. For a good nights sleep, nothing beats a nice warm relaxing bubbly bath, a lovely warm cup of milk, a good book and last but not least nice clean fresh bed linen xx

    1. I like to put he kids to bed, make myself a small snack with nice warm glass of milk and watch some light tv to help me dose off

  2. Half an hour before you intend to go to bed, try to relax and unwind with a book or some light tv. I also find I sleep better when I have got everything prepared for the next day too – the kids uniforms and packed lunches made up and set out.

  3. I go to bed when I’m properly tired, spray my pillow with lavender and snuggle up to hubby, works for me!!

  4. I do believe in getting away from technology for a hour before bed! No phone, TV, lappy, music etc, to allow the brain to wind down and prepare for sleep. I use that hour to have a soothing bubble bath or warm shower, a warm drink, followed by clean sheets and lights off!

  5. A hot bath and a warm drink before snuggling up in a bedroom with lots of fresh air…

    @caro_mad

  6. I have a cup of green tea and sew or crochet before bed, relaxes me after a day with my toddler and his many demands! 🙂 A bit of lavender helps too if I can’t sleep.

  7. I learned to meditate. Learning to truly clear my mind has been the greatest tool that I have ever been given.

  8. Warm bath, clean sheets and then read for about 10 mins. If you can’t get off to sleep then, imagine that you’re looking a a black sheet of paper and (in your minds eye) stare at it.

  9. Reading a book works for me, tires the mind and the eyes. I find tiring the mind is the most important thing to do so that when you lie down it doesnt go into over drive

  10. Actually I’ve just washed our bedding so that + bath + hot chocolate with mud mask and an early night.

  11. fresh air, try opening a window for just a little while fbefore you go to bed no matter how cold it is

  12. Watching the football always sends me straight to sleep! ;+)
My serious top tip, is to lie down in bed with the lights dimmed, and give yourself a nice massage with some lotion. It relaxes me and helps me drift off to sleep.

  13. I always have a notepad and pen by the bed so I can write down anything that is keeping me awake and my mind racing, always helps me

  14. we listen to speech radio (not music) we can’t sleep without the radio on as it is too quiet. listening to phone-ins suits us as if it is an interesting topic we listen to it until we drop off.

  15. My tip would be a lovely hot bubble bath and lots of lavender room spray never fails to help me drift off

    twitter@pinkycomps

  16. Nice hot bubble bath. Then straight to bed.
And make sure the room is not too hot, it’s always hard to sleep when it’s hot and stuffy in the room.

  17. To get a good nights sleep, warm milk, extra blanket over the curtains and black out the room. And finally make sure the husband sleeps on the sofa 😀

  18. My tip is to use a white noise machine or app on your phone. I got one to get my baby boy to sleep after a tip from the health visitor and found myself unable to keep my eyes open!

  19. have a nice hot chocolate before bed and try and switch your mind of and chill with a bath

  20. Make sure you are warm enough. My feet get very cold in winter months so invest in a pair of soft bed socks to help you nod off!

  21. Imagine every single muscle in your body fully relaxing from every muscle in your face to every muscle in your toes until you feel the heaviness slowly moving down your body

  22. The best way to unwind after a long day is to read a magazine in bed without the TV or laptop on. The artificial light of a TV or laptop keeps the mind busy and magazines tend to bore you to sleep.

  23. I like to read a good book, nothing too exciting, no thrillers before bedtime!

    Tweeted as @cillastubbs

  24. For a good nights sleep I like to have a nice relaxing bath and then a warm milky drink.

  25. Definitely a nice soak in a warm bath, followed by a hot chocolate and reading a book helps me get to sleep.

  26. a proper bubble bath, with candles and insences hot chocolate with cream and marshmellows

  27. don’t sleep with a light on as this fools the body into thinking it’s not really sleep time; a massage is ideal if you can, to relax the body for sleeping; a hot bath with lavender oil is great for winding down x

  28. I read for about half an hour in bed and this makes me really sleepy so I can just fall to sleep

  29. A nice relaxing bubble bath and cup of hot chocolate about an hour before I go to bed

  30. I have no problems getting to sleep, I have a 2 and a 3 year old. My problem is waking early, so I have set the heating to come on early. It was the cold weather waking them, and then me up!

  31. try not to go to bed on an argument sort it out before you sleep and you will feel much better in yourself, because we never know what tomorrow may bring and it may be to late to say sorry ,then it will be on your mind for the rest of your days.

  32. After tossing and turning for a while, I will start to relax my body from the toes up. Relax my toes then my legs ect all the way up but have never got further than my hands before I fall asleep.I talk myself through this in my head but it works for me.

  33. My top tip is to go for a long walk after dinner and have a cup of hot milk (or hot chocolate) an hour before bed.

  34. Read quietly for 15-30 mins before bed and if you must eat make it a snack like a banana or a milky drink 🙂

  35. Any thoughts, worries or jobs to do you have put them each in a bubble in your mind and watch them float away until morning, or just write a list of things to do/worry about in the morning, this clears your head as you can rest assured you won’t forget them.

  36. warm bottle and a story. Don’t over stimulate though xx tweeted @meisafairy

  37. i always try to make sure I do not get myself stressed when trying to get to sleep- I sit up, read a book, watch a movie or listen to some music to calm myself down!

  38. If you can find time for a 15 minute soak in the bath adding 2 cups of epsom salts will soak away all the stress of the day

  39. Writing down the things I need to do or that are worrying me that day a couple of hours before going to bed – that way I’m not thinking I must remember to do that tomorrow.

  40. Get all ready for bed and turn off electricals and then read a book or do a puzzle for 1/2 hr before settling down to sleep.

  41. I go for a run, watch some TV and then bed, normaly does the trick. If not, PS3 for a while until tired! Sometimes too long lol

  42. I make sure I’ve always got really comfy sleepwear, so no spaghetti straps that get tangled and cut in or pyjama trousers that ride up and get twisted in the night. It’s made a difference.

  43. Try and get into a routine of going to bed at a reasonable time and getting up at a good time

  44. Never go to bed until you’re tired and indeed sometimes exercise is the best thing to really tire you out physically. Make your bedroom a haven – temperature, ambience and surroundings can all induce a state of relaxation

  45. I al ways read for half an hour which helps me to relax (unless its a thriller!).
    Thanks for the giveaway x
    @pink_lady123

  46. Turn laptop/TV off an hour before bed and start reading a book half an hour before bed.

  47. The best thing i know is too watch Micheal Palin docu in bed it is so relaxing it sends me off no bother

  48. I have a hot mug of horlics every night before I go to bed, and also have lavender linnen spray which I think is beneficial aswell, also the kids tire me out so I am jiggered by the time it is for bed lol

  49. I take a warm bath to which I’ve added a few drops of Lavender Essential oil about an hour before bed. Put on some snuggly pj’s, make a cup of hot chocolate and read a nice book in bed, until I get really sleepy then it’s lights out x

  50. I find a nice hot bath, some warm pj’s on after that and round it off with a mug of hot chocolate, always does the trick.

  51. I find that flickering lights help me sleep, like candles. That’s dangerous though, so I have a flameless candle light to stare at instead. Safe AND soothing.

  52. I wish I knew the answer…these are all really great suggestions though. I think I’ll give quite a few a try, but maybe that’s the problem…over-thinking it and trying to hard? 😉

  53. Gin. Or failing that, a hot bath and making sure the computer, phone and TV are all turned off.

  54. A spritz of Lavender on my pillow always works a treat for giving me a great nights sleep.

  55. Keep a notepad by your bed and if anything is keeping you awake write it down and forget about until the morning.

  56. Try keeping to a similar bedtime each night and don’t watch TV just before you settle. Let your brain rest for a while.

  57. For a good night sleep I open window 15 min before going to bed.Fresh air does the trick.
Or if I had stressful day then a really Boriiiinggg book will do 🙂

  58. Turn off ALL screens and phones at least 1/2 hr before turning in.
    Also tweeted as @BohdanK

  59. An ex boyfriend once gave me a tip which is if you’re restless & struggling to get to sleep then lie there, tense every muscle in your body from your eyes to your toes then relax, do it around 5 to 10 times then at the end you should be relaxed 🙂

It does work, but I prefer a nice hot bubble bath & clean sheets, haha x

  60. A nice warm bath then slip into bed with a book and usually I fall asleep and drop the book

  61. I find if I am on a computer or watching tv just before bed, it takes ages for my brain to wind down in bed, so I turn everything off an hour before bed and do something in the house before going bed… I do have trouble sleeping so this prize would be very useful to me! 🙂
    Thank you!

  62. Make sure your sleeping area is clean and clutter free – if you go to bed surrounded by mess you won’t be able to relax and will just keep thinking about all the chores you need to do.
