I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s usually a post I love to write but obviously life has changed considerably for us and everyone else in the UK over the last few weeks. Life is strange at the moment for everyone but I still want to try and record some of our happier moments.
We were all super happy to pack away the home learning to enjoy half term. It is strange using the dining room table all day, every day. We sit around it to work, craft and eat and it was lovely to just use it as a table rather than a school room.
Monday Happy List {Week 294}
We started off the week with a Bank Holiday and took part in our socially distanced street quiz. Our street has really come together over the last 10 weeks and we have a great community spirit going! One of our neighbours organised a quiz, we all contributed prizes for the raffle, and set up our tables and chairs outside our houses. The kids were so happy to take part and see some friendly faces and the weather was amazing. We came 4th in the street quiz, and won brownies, a bottle of wine, a puzzle and a paddling pool!
I can’t tell you how happy I was to have a break from home learning. We all needed a break and the kids were happy to play whilst I did some sewing. They played with their Lego, Pokemon cards, slime and did lots of drawing. The weather was amazing so they splashed around in the paddling pool too.
We went on lots of walks too, especially with our puppy. We stuck to local walks and re-visited the Battle of Britain House in Ruislip Woods and left our first geocache there. The area had completely changed and was almost unrecognisable due to the plant growth. We did quite a few geocaches and the children both applied for their Blue Peter Sports badge using geocaching as the sport. We took advantage of elderflower season and picked some elderflower and made our own elderflower cordial and discovered new fairy doors where we live.
I haven’t read as much as I thought but I finally got around to reading The Boy, the mole, the fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy. I’ve been following him on Instagram and took part in the draw a long he did recently for the Royal Albert Hall. I read the book in one sitting and it’s definitely one to keep dipping into. I’ve read 8 books so far in my 2020 Goodreads Reading Challenge so I’m going to try and make more time to read this week.
As it was half term I got to spend some time on my hobbies. I enjoy making mosaics so made two mosaic hearts from the Cosy Craft Club subscription box. I’ve also used my Cricut for a few projects around the house.

Oh I’d like to read that book by Charlie Mackesy as he is so gifted. Great that you had some time to chill and sew, its’ great to get away from the home learning, it can be too intense. Mich x

OK the socially distanced street quiz sounds like so much fun! I love how some streets have been really showing such an amazing spirit.
In my country, all public places have been painted with markers. Squares or circles on the floor to make people do social distancing the right way. To keep my mind busy, I joined a Facebook group that does themed photo-sharing. It is so fun!
We have had a lovely week as well with lots of walks, was also thinking about making some elderflower cordial but was not sure how to. So seen your recipe for this and will try to pluck some elderflower next time we head out on our walks.
It sounds like you’ve all had a lovely half term considering these weird times. I’m also finding it odd using the dinner table for everything inc working from home. Hope you all have a good week this week too.
