Five Happy Things

Five Happy Things {Week 241}

Posted on May 20, 2019 by jenny

I love to start the week by writing Five Happy Things. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing. Despite this being a quick 5 week half term, I’m finding it is going very slowly. We’re counting down the days until it’s half term!

Five Happy Things {Week 241}

It felt like last week was pretty quiet. My daughter spent much of last week sitting her Year 2 SATs and was so fed up by the end of it. We had the usual after school clubs which the children enjoyed but tried to have lots of peaceful crafting and early bedtimes to get her through it.

Fortunately we had her school fair to look forward to on Saturday. She loved hanging out with her friends and winning lots of prizes on all the stalls. Her favourite part was the climbing wall which she was brilliant on.

Yesterday we went to see the Pokemon Detective Pikachu film at our local cinema. My 7 year old loves Pikachu and it’s all she and her friends have been talking about. The film was really fun and a good way to start Sunday.

After the cinema we took our RC model boats to the boating lake at Northala Fields. It’s been a while since we took the boats out and the children had so much fun racing them round, even when we lost a bit in the lake! Luckily they were able to use their boats to push it to the side and fish it out! There is a great children’s playground there and it felt good to spend so much time there.

I’ve enjoyed using my Cricut Maker this week. I made a label for my daughter’s Jolly Jar for the school fair. I also used it to make some Lego-inspired wall art for Father’s Day. We popped into Hobbycraft to pick up some more Cricut supplies as I have a few more projects planned to share soon.

    What an amazing week you have had! I’ve heard that Detective Pikachu is meant to be so much fun to watch! We might have to go and see it sometime.

    You have just reminded me that I meant to price up a Circuit machine. I’ve been yearning for one for ages! Hope the SATS were kind to your daughter – My youngest’s school take them so seriously. She had a really miserable week having to be so quiet and not doing any fun activities …and she’s only in year 3!

    I still remember my school fairs! I used to love buying second hand books and buying tickets for the tombola

    It will be Sats time for us next year and I have to say I am not looking forward to it. They are still so young.
