Five Happy Things {Week 222}

Free Chinese New Year printable – Year of the Pig

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend and a Happy New Year. Each week I start off by writing my Five Happy Things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.

Five happy things {Week 222}

We had a great week relaxing at home after Christmas and New Year. The children have been spending their Christmas money on toys and books and we have spent a lot of time at home. I love that we’ve had time to catch up with appointments and normal stuff that seems to get forgotten when term starts.

We managed to spend a lot of time on our house during the holiday. We re-arranged the living room, bought a new dining room table and bought wardrobes for our son’s room. Yesterday we packed away the Christmas decorations so the house feels all lovely, tidy and ready for a New Year.

There was some leftover Christmas food so we did some baking this week. My daughter loved making mince pies with me. We always seem to have left over mincemeat and I have a few recipes, such as mincemeat palmiers and mincemeat and marzipan loaf if you’re looking for inspiration.

The children were really happy to not have any homework to do. Instead they have been reading and colouring in everything they find. My daughter has been devouring books which is amazing for her. Every time she finishes a book she comes downstairs to show us which is really sweet. I’m really hoping that her teacher can see the improvement in her when she gets back to school.

I’ve managed to organise all my sewing supplies since we changed our living room round. I finally had time to do lots of annoying jobs, like organising my embroidery threads! Now I can see all the sewing projects I’m working on and get to them easily. I need to write an update on my 2018 plans soon, and write some for 2019.

Have a great week everyone.

    It’s funny, I used to hate New Year, but now I absolutely love it for the fresh start to the new after the decorations have gone away, it’s a lovely peaceful time! Love the idea of a mince meat love, I still have a jar in the fridge, so I will pop over! 🙂

    This is such a great idea for a blog post and series. We often dwell on the negatives and forget about the little happy moments in our lives that sometimes can be overlooked.

    That time just after Christmas is perfect for organising so I’m glad you managed to find some time to do that. As we went to family for Christmas we came back and didn’t have to deal with the excess of Christmas food laying around thankfully x
