This afternoon we were invited to go and see a preview of the highly anticipated sequel to Wreck-It Ralph that sees Ralph (John C. Reilly) and his racing driver best friend Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) leave the arcade world behind to explore the uncharted and thrilling world of the internet on a quest to save Vanellope’s racing game!
We just loved Wreck-It Ralph. Can you believe it came out on 2012? In the first film arcade-game character Wreck-It Ralph is tired of always being the “bad guy” and losing to his “good guy” opponent, Fix-It Felix. Finally, after decades of seeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides to take matters into his own hands. He sets off on a game-hopping trip to prove that he has what it takes to be a hero. However, while on his quest, Ralph accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade.
Dare to be Different
Our special preview screening was sponsored by Dare to be Different, a non-profit founded by former racing driver Susie Wolff to increase the participation of women in all forms of motor racing. Before the screening we were able to learn a bit more about Dare to be Different from some of their ambassadors. We were so excited to find out more about them. We love anything which encourages girls to think a little outside the box and this is an organisation which loves to challenge girls to do just this.
Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2
The screening took place at the Empire Haymarket, a cinema just south of Leicester Square. We settled down to watch the film.
In Disney’s Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, video game bad guy Ralph and fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz must risk it all by travelling to the World Wide Web in search of a replacement part to save Vanellope’s video game, “Sugar Rush.” In way over their heads, Ralph and Vanellope rely on the citizens of the internet – the netizens – to help navigate their way, including an entrepreneur named Yesss, who is the head algorithm and the heart and soul of trend-making site BuzzzTube.
We laughed so much when we watched the film. It’s very fun about friendship and internet culture with lots of laugh out loud moments. I would say my son was as entertained as I was as there were lots of jokes on lots of different levels. We had many favourite moments, but I loved all the videos Ralph made as he tried to make money with viral videos. His unboxing video made me smile as that’s something my children just love to do. There were also tons of new characters for Ralph and Vanellope to meet including the Disney Princess lineup, The Muppets, Star Wars, Disney Animation, Marvel Comics, and Pixar characters. We definitely saw the Disney Princesses in a whole new way and loved the slogan tees they adopted after they met Vanellope.
As with all Disney films there was a positive underlying message of friendship between Ralph and Vanellope. You can’t help but admire Vanellope, she is one cool character, and we loved her for following her dreams (even if that involved taking part in some crazy driving in Slaughter Race). Ralph Breaks The Internet is out in the UK on the 30th November – go and see it!
