Family Life mindfulness Monday Happy List

Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend. It was our first weekend at home for a month and so lovely to relax and just go out for lunch and to the park. I love starting off each week by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.

Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things

My poor Year 3 son survived Assessment Week. He had a different assessment each day which I think he found a bit tough. He was happy to come home with a Teacher’s Award for his Medusa art though and was also identified as a Whole Class Music Hero. This means he has been making exceptional progress in his music lessons and been invited to perform alongside the county Junior Band. Unfortunately he doesn’t want to so I don’t get to be a proud mum just yet. I’m hoping that he’ll get a chance another year.

I was busy working last week but did manage to pop around our local charity shops and got a great charity shopping haul. I haven’t found anything for ages but I came away with Lego Ninjago books, a Lego StarWars watch and even some craft books for me. On Friday I finished exam invigilating for this season. I’ve enjoyed working there again. It really impacted how much time I spent on my blog but it was actually quite nice to work outside of the home and talk to work colleagues.

a littler pick

On Wednesday we took part in a family litter pick to mark Blue Peter’s 60th birthday. Be Plastic Clever 60 or #BPC60 is the brain child of Kids Against Plastic. My daughters school was visited by CBBC presenter Naomi Wilkinson who talked to them about the impact on the environment and our health caused by continued use of single use plastic. We had fun picking up litter and were rewarded with ice creams.

My 8 year old love entering competitions. Last week he received his special limited edition iSPY badge. To celebrate 70 years of iSPY Collins are giving away limited editions of iSPY badges to anyone who completes their iSPY guides. This is an exclusive limited run of 500 collector’s edition badges so he was pretty excited to get one. He also applied for his first Blue Peter badge so we can’t wait to see if he gets one.

We had a quiet weekend and spent a lot of time on the garden. We had bought some tubs and finally bought the plants to put in them. The garden is now full of colour so I’m really hoping everything survives, I’m really not known for my gardening skills.

Have a great week everyone!
