Visiting The Gingerbread City

Visiting The Gingerbread City

Posted on December 22, 2017 by jenny

Today we visited the rather wonderful Gingerbread City in London. I heard about this a few days ago and knew we had to visit. London’s best architects have created an the incredible city made of gingerbread! As well as visiting the Gingerbread City you could also attend Gingerbread House Making Workshops and visit the little gingerbread shop.

The Gingerbread City

The Gingerbread City was organised by The Museum of Architecture. This is the second year of its successful Gingerbread City project, a fundraising exhibition that invites architects, urban planners and landscape designers to design a city made entirely of gingerbread.

The Gingerbread City

Building on the success of last year’s exhibition, MoA invited emerging, as well as established, architecture practices to respond to the call for entries and design a city based on a masterplan developed by Tibbalds Planning and Urban Design. MoA will give three prizes for the best designs, selected by two expert committees as well as the popular vote.

We popped along today to explore the Gingerbread City. We were amazed at what we saw – lots of different buildings all made from gingerbread and decorated with icing and sweets. It was beautiful and smelled gorgeous! The children loved all the details and we were so pleased we managed to see it. We all had our favourite buildings. I think mine was this little scene of Dutch houses, all beautifully decorated.

The Gingerbread City was open between 6th – 22nd December 2017 at 27 Thurloe Street, South Kensington, London.

I had no idea such place even existed or I would have been there. It looks absolutely incredible and I am sure it smells just as good as it looks too x

I had no idea that the Gingerbread City in London even existed – sound like an interesting place to go although I would want to eat it all
