DIY Sylvanian Families snow globe tutorial

I spent a very happy morning Christmas shopping yesterday. I love having the time to do shopping early, it makes a huge difference if I can make lists and cross off everything as I do it. Getting my Christmas shopping done also means more crafting time which makes me extra happy!

Recently I bought a huge bundle of vintage Sylvanian Families figures. My daughter loves Sylvanian Families and I thought it would be fun to craft with them. My daughter and I made our own snow globe and today we’re going to show you how we did it.

We love making our own Christmas decorations. We’ve filled our own baubles before but I don’t think we’ve ever made a snow globe. I couldn’t resist the supplies in Hobbycraft, I made sure to buy them early as they tend to sell out!

This is a lovely and simple craft for kids to make. My daughter unscrewed the snow globe and filled it with the white snow beads.

She placed her vintage Sylvanian Figures toy inside the plastic snow globe and screwed it back up again. The toy was large enough to fill the bauble without moving around, but if you wanted to use a smaller toy, you could always glue it to the base of the snow globe using a hot glue gun.

I love the finished result and wish I had bought a few more snow globes. You could use any toy, even a favourite one as the snow beads don’t affect the toy. This also makes for a kid-friendly ornament, with no worries about the snow globe breaking (which happened last year!) or leaking liquid.
