Monday happy things {Week 141}

Posted on June 12, 2017 by jenny

I’m writing my weekly Happy Things post slightly later than usual. I was working this morning and just couldn’t face getting up early to write it. I’ve been working quite a few hours recently which has seriously eaten into my blogging time. I have a new found appreciation for all those parents who juggle work and children and write a blog.

Last week we went crazy for Father’s Day. My children wanted to make cards and gifts for their Dad so we’ve been making things after school. I think they might burst with excitement if Father’s Day doesn’t hurry up and arrive.

Over the weekend my son went to Beavers camp and his Dad stayed over with him as a parent helper. He had a brilliant time although the severe lack of sleep made him pretty grumpy the next day. My husband enjoyed himself too so we’ve been toying with the idea of another family glamping trip this summer.

camping out with Beavers

I won a book voucher for taking part in a recent campaign with Egmont. My prize turned up unexpectedly but I was so happy to visit my local book shop and treat everyone to some new books. It made a lovely change to win something rather than running a giveaway on my own blog. I treated myself to a copy of London In Fragments: A Mudlark’s Treasures by Ted Sandling which has been on my wishlist for months. I love reading about London and can’t wait to start this.

Both my children have been a little under weather. I was hoping they would have a relaxing half term and be refreshed to start school but both are tired and grumpy. Now SATs are out of the way I’m hoping they will both enjoy the last 6 weeks of the term. The summer term is full of fun workshops and Sports Day. My son has been talking a lot about moving up to the Junior School so I’m hoping he’s not worrying about this too much.

latest issue of Project Calm magazine

As I’ve been working in a proper job I felt like I could treat myself to a few things. So I bought a copy of the latest Project Calm magazine as well as two new pin badges from Nikki McWilliams. It’s the smallest things which make me happy!

Have a great week everyone.

    I’m sure your kids are so excited about surprising their dad. A greeting card would really be sweet. Congratulations on winning a book voucher by the way!
