Monday Happy List {Week 126}

It’s been a strange old week. The children only had 4 days at school thanks to an Inset Day but they’ve both been quite tired and grumpy getting back into the school routine. Today my 6 year old asked when the Summer holidays were going to start. I didn’t want to break it to him that he still had a good few ~~weeks~~ months of school left.

Although we finished the new kitchen a few months ago we had half an idea about putting wallpaper up on one wall. We finally chose a pattern we both liked and over the weekend we wallpapered the kitchen with my favourite Orla Kiely stem print wallpaper. Unfortunately we mis-calculated how much we needed as the pattern repeat was huge. Yep, we ran out of paper. I’ve ordered some more so hopefully we can finish it next weekend.

Now the children are both at school my husband and I have the odd cheeky lunch date. On Friday we went out for lunch to celebrate his birthday. It was so nice to enjoy a lovely quiet meal.

Over the weekend we took the children out with their bikes. We’re all trying to get more fresh air and exercise so bribed them to go round the running track as many times as they could. My daughter is looking after the Rainbows doll this week, and my son is trying for his Cyclist badge with Beavers. Lots of photos were taken as evidence!

Yesterday we all went on a 2.5 mile hike with Beavers. There was a great turn out and luckily we were well prepared with warm hats and welly boots. My son moaned a little but we all started and finished together. The hike contributed towards his Hiking badge which definitely helped motivate him.

It felt like a busy week doing lots of mum jobs but I managed to squeeze in a little creativity too. I stitched some Star Wars characters from felt, finally started and finished the paper cut from Project Calm magazine, and stitched the little Scandi hoop from the latest issue of Mollie Makes magazine.

I spent another week at the top of one of the parenting blogging indexes too. I never understand how these things work and feel like I paid my blog less attention last week as I was so busy. It just shows that you can’t influence anything even if you wanted to!
