Monday Happy List – 2017 life goals

2017 life goals

Last Monday I missed writing my weekly Monday Happy List post. I’ve written this post for over 2 years so it felt strange not writing it. However, I came down with a strange bug which kept me in bed all day and I couldn’t face opening my laptop.

I’ve been meaning to write my goals for 2017 so spent the day thinking what to write from my sick bed. Today instead of my usual Monday Happy List post I’m going to share my goals for 2017. To be honest not much happened last week except for me being ill and my 6 year old catching chicken pox.

Monday Happy List – 2017 life goals

Work – This year is all about returning to work. I’ve applied for a few jobs in the last few years but now my youngest is at school full time I really want to go back to work. I feel a little redundant whilst they are at school so I shall be polishing my cv and being brave. I’ve also signed up for a few free Future Learn courses. I really want to use my brain more and these seem like an ideal way to test the water.

Health – I want to eat better and be more active. My husband bought me an Apple watch for Christmas so I can track my steps every day. I would also love to get a dog. If I’d known I would be taking such a long career break I would have got one sooner. It does seem a little silly to start contemplating a dog when I want to go back to work, so I’m not sure if I will achieve it this year. I want to buy a pair of Saltwater sandals. I’ve worn Birkenstocks for far too long and fancy a change 🙂

Blogging – This year my blog will be 11 years old! I would love to attend a blogging conference, hopefully BritMums Live 2017, as I haven’t been for a few years.

Hobbies – As I say every year I want to spend less time blogging and more time on my hobbies, especially paper cutting. I’d love to go on a paper cutting workshop and try my hand at designing my own. I also need to finish my Shipping Forecast quilt. I seem to be spending all my free time paper cutting but I would *love* to finish this quilt.

Outdoor adventures – I want to spend more time outside and there are a few things I would like to do this year. They start with mudlarking along the River Thames as I used to help process the mudlarking finds when I worked at the Museum of London and have always wanted to go on an organised walk to look for treasure. I think my children would enjoy this too.

I want to see lavender fields, probably Hitchin Lavender in Hertfordshire, make it to RHS Garden Wisley, and take the children to a PYO farm.

We renewed our National Trust membership so I want to re-visit our favourite local properties, such as Hughenden and Cliveden, as well as try and visit 5 new National Trust properties.

Now I’ve written it all down it feels like quite a substantial list! I love having goals so hopefully it will help that I’ve written it all down. Now I just to need to shake off all these illnesses and make a start!

Wow, 11 years of blogging is amazing, go you!! Dogs are an amazing thing, but a lot of work and a huge commitment. I love mine to bits but it’s hard planning adventures bearing him in mind sometimes

That’s a good point. To be honest the school year doesn’t really allow for many spontaneous adventures anyway 🙁
