Minions: a gift guide for kids

Posted on December 12, 2016September 1, 2020 by jenny

I know I said that I wasn’t really writing many gift guides this year but I couldn’t resist posting another one. My children are a little Minion crazy. There’s just something about those little yellow dudes and they have inspired playdough and bento in our house.

Our favourite films featuring the Minions are the Despicable Me franchise. The films focus on Gru, a super-villain (who later becomes a dad and superhero); his yellow-coloured Minions; and his three orphan girls, Margo, Edith and Agnes. It began with the 2010 film, Despicable Me, and its 2013 sequel, Despicable Me 2. A prequel featuring Gru’s Minions, titled Minions, was released in 2015. We are so excited for Despicable Me 3 which is coming out in 2017!

My children already have a few Minion toys, especially plush versions, so I was pleased to be sent some interactive toys to review. I think the main appeal of the Minions is that they are pretty naughty.

Minion action figures

Despicable Me Minion Kevin with Jelly Blaster Deluxe Action Figure, Despicable Me Minion Stuart with fart dart launcher Deluxe Action Figure and Despicable Me Build-a-Minion Fireman/Lucy Deluxe Action Figure are all about 10-15cm high figures and come with a range of accessories. They are a part of a collectable range of figures and on some of them you can make their eyes and mouths move. They are great for recreating moments from your favourite film and the accessories are really fun. You probably don’t need me to tell you that the fart dart launcher is the current favourite in our house.

Plush Minion Stuart

My children already have a few plush Minion toys, my daughter has an adorable unicorn, just like Agnes’s. So she immediately claimed the Plush Minion Stuart when she saw it. It’s quite small so perfect for carrying around in her bag or when we go away for the weekend.

Sing 'N Dance Bob

My 6 year old loves interactive toys so claimed the Sing ‘N Dance Bob. This clever toy sings, talks and responds to your voice so you can imagine the fun they have been having with it. Luckily he does go to sleep if left alone but he’s probably the ;east offensive interactive toy we’re seen.

Bob British Invasion Deluxe Action Figure

Bob is a great character in the Minions film so we love the Bob British Invasion Deluxe Action Figure. He comes complete with a crown and sceptre and you can move his eyes and mouth. My children have been recreating their favourite scenes so the Minions look really funny when their mouths move!

I would love to hear if your children love the Minions too! Bob is our favourite character. Who is yours?
