Ikea soft cushion

Role play toys for children from Ikea

Posted on December 2, 2016December 2, 2016 by jenny

And now for something completely different. We’ve reviewed a few techy toys recently, such as the awesome Leapfrog LeapBand Activity Tracker and the Star Wars Rogue One Interactive Imperial Stormtrooper figure, so today I’m happy to share the new range of soft toys from Ikea.

Our family fully embraces the Ikea lifestyle. We eat from Ikea plates and bowls, have lovely Ikea shelving and toys boxes in the living room and my daughter sleeps in an Ikea bed with a room full of Ikea furniture. Despite my fondness for vintage, I also love clean white furniture; it’s functional, great value and it’s easy to see why it’s so popular.

We’ve bought quite a few toys from the Children’s section too. My daughter has an Ikea play kitchen, both children have adorable cloud cushions, as well as dolls house furniture and craft supplies. In fact our lifestyle feels like a walking Ikea advert!

We obviously love Ikea so I was happy to receive some of their new range, HEMMAHOS, which is designed to encourage children to role play – aiding their development and encouraging them to use their imagination rather than relying on technology to do this for them. With five CIRKUSTALT tents sold every hour in the UK, IKEA know that parents want their children to be involved in more role-play activities and so as a result, have created a whole range inspired by home-based imagination – complete with front-door rugs and cushions and a giant cuddly toothbrush, cactus and clock!

We saw this range on a recent trip (to buy my wooden Advent tree!) and fell in love with this gorgeous house cushion. the whole range is colourful and playful, appealing to adults and children alike. A few weeks ago we received a delivery which my children couldn’t wait to open. There was one parcel for each of them and inside my daughter found a soft toy pencil, my son found a soft toy cactus. There was also a copy of the book Let’s Go Says The Pencil which features The Alarm Clock, the Cactus and the Toothbrush which was fun to read. These toys are really soft and my children have been enjoying them a lot. The pencil is quite long so I have been watching my daughter throw it around the room and trying to write with it!

For every item in this range (and the entire IKEA children’s play range) sold during 20th November to 24th December 2016, the IKEA Foundation will make a donation of €1 helping to protect children’s imaginations and to support children’s rights to play and develop across the globe. Working with War Child, Save the Children, UNICEF, Room to Read, Handicap International and Special Olympics, the funds raised will support some of the poorest communities in the world, helping to aid children’s development and learning, equal participation, sports and of course – play.

These are brilliant, I think Ikea does some great toys and these are great for role play areas.
