Monday Happy List – Week 109

Year 2 school book

It’s Monday and it’s half term which makes me very happy. This half term has felt long and I am glad the children can relax for a bit. Don’t let’s mention the ridiculous of amount of homework they were given considering they are in Reception and Year 2! Anyway, time for my weekly Monday Happy List post.

Last week both my children were ill and missed a few days of school. It’s tough having sick kids at home but they both seem to be on the mend now. We did manage to make it to Parents’ Evening and they both had great reports so I was really proud of them. It was also a chance to look through their school books, this kind of picture (at the top of my post) always melts my heart a little!

The joys of being a stay at home mum meant I was able to accompany my son on his Year 2 field trip to a local historical site. I thought my children were chatty but being surrounded by children who all wanted to tell me something was crazy. I could never be a teacher.

The kids had an Inset Day on Friday we went and watched the new Trolls film and went to McDonalds for lunch. The children were ridiculously happy to get their hands on the tie-in Trolls Happy Meal toys. It’s a really fun film, we also bought the soundtrack so we can have happy music at home.

We had a great day trip to Warwick Castle on Saturday. It was so nice to make an effort to go somewhere new and there was plenty for everyone to enjoy. I must admit I wasn’t too keen on climbing all the steps to the top of the tallest tower I’ve ever seen, but the hot chocolate and donuts at the end more than made up for it! You can read more about our day here.

We finally finished our kitchen this weekend! My husband watched a YouTube video and then tiled the walls and floor. The kitchen now looks amazing and the extra cupboard space makes everything much easier. Hopefully we can have a few days to enjoy it before we start planning redecorating the living room.

Have a great week everyone!
