Play-Doh Imaginarium at the Science Museum

Play-Doh Imaginarium at the Science Museum

Yesterday we visited the Science Museum to experience the extraordinary at the Play-Doh Imaginarium. To celebrate its 60th birthday, Play-Doh launched an exclusive free event at the Science Museum combining tech and creative play.

Fronted by ex-Blue Peter presenter Janet Ellis, the Play-Doh Imaginarium is a unique experience for kids combining the worlds of tech and creativity. It features workshops from leading experts, including Play-Doh sculpture artist Eleanor Macnair, and the team behind Tech Will Save Us. It is taking place this weekend and we were fortunate to attend the first workshop of the weekend with Eleanor Macnair.

Our workshop was called Sculpture 101 and we learned to create weird and wonderful creations using a limitless supply of Play-Doh. My 4 year old loves Play Doh so was happy to be let loose on a table full of tubs of Play Doh.

We were shown how to make 2D pictures of birds using Play Doh and we both had a go at making our own. My daughter enjoyed making hers, although for some reason she added some of the Play Doh treats we made whilst waiting for the workshop to start!

When we had finished playing with the Play Doh she coloured in some of the amazing Play Doh wall! I have a feeling she would love some similar wall paper at home.

She insisted on taking her Play Doh bird creation home and somehow we I managed to carry it around the West End and all the way back home in one piece!

To coincide with Play-Doh 60th anniversary celebrations, and ahead of October half term, Play-Doh will be bringing kids creativity classes to more than 800 locations across the UK. To register interest, or for more information, parents or carers can visit http://www.thecreationstation.co.uk/

Awww a mother’s love. I can imagine carrying Play Doh Creation Home all around the city, lol. My kids have always wanted a Play Doh. Think I will be getting one for them.

That sounds like such fun. I’m sure there are some adults that might enjoy making play-doh scupltures too! It looks like your little girl had a great day out 🙂
