Learning the art of donut decorating (Nine Lives review)

Posted on August 11, 2016 by jenny

Our Summer holiday fun continued with a donut decorating and activity workshop today. After a pretty dull trip to Ikea (more kitchen research) we hopped on the tube to the West End. Our destination was a donut decorating workshop with Vickyโ€™s Donuts to celebrate the release of Nine Lives which is out on the 18th August.

Nine Lives

Tom Brand (Kevin Spacey) is a billionaire whose workaholic lifestyle has disconnected him from his family, particularly his beautiful wife Lara (Jennifer Garner) and his adoring daughter Rebecca.

Rebecca’s 11th birthday is here and she wants the gift she want every year -a cat. Tom hates cats, but he is without a gift and time is running out. His GP directs him to a mystical pet store with odd and exotic cats. The store’s owner, Felix Perkins (Christopher Walken) presents him with a majestic Tomcat named Mr Fuzzypants.

En route to his daughter’s party, Tom has a terrible accident. As a result, he discovers that somehow he has become trapped inside the body of the cat. Adopted by his own family, he begins to experience what life is truly like for the family pet – as a cat!

The trailer is very funny and we can’t wait to see the film at the cinema next week. To celebrate the launch of the film we were invited to decorate our own Mr Fuzzypants donuts.

We were shown how to make them, then had a go ourselves. The children thought this was the best thing ever and loved dipping their donuts in icing and decorating them to make them look like Mr Fuzzypants the cat and star of Nine Lives.

They decorated the boxes too and we just about managed to get them home in one piece ๐Ÿ™‚

We had a great time and it was lovely to try something new. Don’t forget you can catch Nine Lives which is out next Thursday (18th August).

Oh wow what fun!!! I have to say I have a real soft spot for donuts and I bet the kids love decorating these. Great way to spend an afternoon – also that film sounds like a hoot
