Christmas days out

Monday Happy Things – Week 66

I hope you all had a very Happy Christmas. I love the week between Christmas and New Year. We’re busy relaxing and helping the children play with all their new Christmas presents, Father Christmas was very good to them this year!

On Tuesday we explored the new Fairy Village which has appeared in our village. The children were really excited to find so many fairies had decided to build their houses near us. It was also a great reason to get out and have some much needed fresh air.

We had our first family ice skating trip. I thought it would be a lovely Christmas treat and the children were really excited and had loads of fun putting on their ice skates. Then they stepped out on to the ice and got really scared! Fortunately we had hired some skate aids so the children were more than happy to be pushed around the rink.

I finally got to see the new Star Wars film and it was definitely worth the wait. My husband has seen it 3 times and my 5 year old has seen it too. He’s become a little obsessed with Star Wars and I’m looking forward to trying some more Star Wars crafts with him as he really enjoyed making our own BB-8 droid decoration.

We had a lovely Christmas Day and Christmas lunch with my mum. We decided to go out for our Christmas meal which was a really nice change and meant we could spend more of the day enjoying ourselves instead of being in the kitchen.

I ha some lovely gifts for Christmas including the Liberty Adult Colouring book, A Year of Gingerbread Houses, The Magic & The Wardrobe, and a Year in Stitches Calendar Kit from The Draper’s Daughter. My favourite gift was my silver Isle of Wight necklace which my mum bought me from Rust Jewellery. I grew up on the Isle of Wight and this is a lovely keepsake.

Hope you’re all having a lovely Christmas.

Skating with young kids is terrifying! Glad they had the aids on hand. Wishing you and yours all the best for 2016 🙂
