A classic tale brought to life

Posted on May 7, 2014February 4, 2018 by jenny

I was delighted to tune in to CBeebies recently and see the Peter Rabbit animated series. The Tale of Peter Rabbit is one of the first books I remember from my childhood. The stories of Peter Rabbit and his friends are timeless and I think they have translated really well into a programme that my children love to sit and watch.

My sister and I had a library of Beatrix Potter books when we were little and I’ve been buying them for my own children whenever I see them in charity shops. There’s something very comforting about reading these simple stories and you know I can never resist a healthy dose of nostalgia!

peter rabbitThe animated series features Peter Rabbit and his friends in the beautiful Lake District where there are adventures to be had and surprises to discover around every corner. Whether hanging out at each other’s burrows, meeting at their secret tree-house, out and about on adventures or celebrating with a ‘Bunny Dance’,  Peter Rabbit, Benjamin Bunny and Lily Bobtail are never happier than when they’re together.

Little Sis was sent a very  cute and cuddly 10” Talking Plush version of Peter Rabbit, there’s a Lily Bobtail one too, from Vivid Toy Group. Both have a RRP of £14.99 each. Give his tummy a squeeze and he speaks character phrases from the series such as ‘Let’s hop to it!’ and ‘Brilliant!’ We loved the adorable expression and cute costume detail and I can see myself having to make a matching bag for Little Sis to keep her carrots in!

The range of Peter Rabbit toys from Vivid includes Peter’s Playing Cards (RRP £3.99), 3-in-a-box, 12, 16 and 24 piece Puzzles (RRP £4.99), Peter Rabbit and Friends Figure Assortment (RRP £3.99) as well as  6” cuddly versions of Peter Rabbit and Lily Bobtail (RRP £6.99 each).

None of us have ever really been huge Peter Rabbit fans but the cuddly toy does look very cute!

The classics are timeless! My son liked Peter Rabbit but I have found that my daughter isn’t too interested in PR although she would love a Lily Bobtail!

I wish I had thought of keeping some of my childhood toys but I was convinced I was never getting married or having children!

I don’t think I’ve ever read any of Peter Rabbit books but they seems to be really lovely, nicely illustrated 🙂 I should have a look at some for my little brother!

Oh how lovely! The Beatrix Potter books and timeless, and the characters so much more wholesome than alot of characters we see around these days. The toys look so cute (and I want one!)

We are Peter Rabbit fans here and I think that they have adapted the original stories very cleverly for television with the inclusion of Lily. I’m sure any child who loves Peter would adore these toys.

We love Peter Rabbit. A few years ago a parcel was delivered to our house that had someone else’s name on but our address. It was from a book club and I phoned them and tried explaining that we hadn’t ordered it, we think someone must have got the number wrong or something. They wouldn’t send me a postage label to return it and I wouldn’t send it back at my own cost so they said to keep it. I opened it up to find the full boxed collection of Peter Rabbit books 😀

Awww he is adorable. I have to admit I don’t like the CBeebies make of it – I think its because I loved the original so much

My two girls love this cbeebies programme too. I have the videos of the original videos of the tales and we love to watch them also, as well as read the books. Beatrix Potter is a favourite of mine 🙂 x
