Weather observation craft for kids

Each month we are sent a surprise box of crafting supplies and a new Bostik product to try. This month the theme was the weather and we received the Fine & Wide Glu Pen from Bostik. This is a clever glu stick with two ends (one thin and one thick) which makes it perfect for all kinds of craft projects.

We have been experiencing lots of crazy English weather lately so the contents of the craft box were great for us to talk about the weather. Inside were lots of foam weather stickers, wooden pegs, the Glu Pen and other supplies.

We decided to make a weather station using the cardboard box the supplies came in, so I cut off the flaps, and then we glued a piece of green foam to the inside. We used the cut out tree and more of the glue to collage pieces of paper to it.

We set this aside to dry then started on our weather pegs. My 4 year old picked out all the different weather symbols she could find – there was lightning, rain, snow, sun and wind. We glued these shapes on the selection of wooden pegs.

The final step was to add a piece of string across the front of the box so she could find the weather peg matching the weather and clip it to her weather station. It worked really well until she went a little crazy with her weather observations!

  1. Now, now. 🙂 This is such a fantastic idea. We haven’t done something like this just yet so, thank you for sharing. I will save this ready for our homeschool activity. x

  2. Ah this looks so fun, what a lovely way to learn about the weather! Definitely very apt for the past few weeks 🙂
