How to make Baymax from Kinder Egg shells

We are so excited about Big Hero 6. As a family we love to watch films and we loved Big Hero 6 on the big screen.

Big Hero 6 is the story of Hiro and Baymax, set in the fictional city of Sanfransokyo (a mashup of San Francisco and Tokyo). The film is inspired by the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. The film tells the story of a young robotics prodigy named Hiro Hamada, Baymax (a personal healthcare robot) and a group of friends from nerd school who form a superhero team to combat a masked villain. 

We loved this film so much. It was really refreshing to watch something so different and my 4 year old was really interested to learn a little about robotics. We loved the character Baymax too, who wouldn’t want a superhero huggable robot as a friend?!

In honour of Baymax we thought we would create our own tribute from kinder eggs.  We have a plethora of plastic shells from kinder eggs so upcycled a few in this easy craft activity.

Materials needed to create Baymax from Kinder Egg shells:
plastic shells from kinder eggs
acrylic paint in a spray can
black and red Sharpie pens

How to make Baymax from Kinder Egg shells:

Spray your kinder egg shells with white acrylic paint. I used double-sided sticky tape to tape them onto a piece of cardboard, then gave them two coats of paint.

When they were dry I drew on Baymax’s distinctive eyes with a back Sharpie pen.

On one of the kinder egg shells I drew on the eyes, then coloured round them with a red Sharpie pen to look like Baymax in his cool red armour.

These were super simple to make but great fun. My children really adore Baymax and this has kept them occupied as I start saving to buy them a Baymax action figure. It’s also a great way to upcycle Kinder Egg shells.
