London’s sandy beach

Posted on June 8, 2013March 28, 2016 by jenny

We had the most amazing day out today at the London Eye and South Bank. It’s one of my favourite places in London and there’s lots to do for free! We didn’t tell the toddler where we were going until we were right underneath the London Eye and luckily he was excited about going on it.

The weather was perfect so we all enjoyed the view from our pod. There was enough space for the children to move freely around and they were very well behaved.

After our little ride we went for a walk along the South Bank which has had a makeover as London’s friendliest neighbourhood. We loved watching the street performers and the Queen’s Walk Window Gardens, which was a series of large-scale allotments created from reclaimed windows. We really want to steal their idea for small window boxes fixed to the fence.

We couldn’t leave without a visit to the sandy beach. By this time Little Sis was fast asleep but her brother had enough fun for the both of them. The beach had been transformed into its own Sandy Neighbourhood with small buildings dotted throughout. A brilliant idea and packed with children having fun.

Whilst we were out and about we munched on the new Weetabix On The Go biscuit. We received some free samples and we’re all pretty addicted to them!

In the distinctive Weetabix-shape, a serving of four biscuits provides all the fibre, vitamins and minerals of two Weetabix. They come in Milk & Cereal, Apple with a hint of Cinnamon and Fruit & Fibre flavours and I think my husband just might be sneaking out of the house on Monday with the remaining bars as he never has time for breakfast!

We’ve only just found your blog and we love it! We’re really enjoying all of your crafts and recipes.

Looks like you all had a fantastic day out. Those window allotments are a lovely idea, and hopefully it won’t be too long until the weather is good enough for a trip to an actual beach!
