The kids have been so excited to decorate our house. This year I have been drawn to more neutral colours and couldn’t resist making some simple decorations with wool. Tassels are easy to make and can be used to decorate a simple wrapped gift. With our Christmas tree tassel craft we’ve used a few tassels to make a really sweet Christmas tree decoration.
You will need:
2 mini wooden cutting boards
2 colours of yarn (I used sage and cream)
Hot glue/hot glue gun
Scissors
Ruler (optional)
Christmas Tree Tassel Craft
Directions to make small tassel trees
Measure and cut 5 strands of wool about 3-4” long.
Fold the 5 stands in half grouped together. Cut another wool strand about 12” long and tie the top of the strings together to make a small loop. Wrap the ends around the loop and tie off.
Repeat the steps above to make 3 tassels. Lay out the tassels on a small cutting board, 2 on the bottom row, and 1 on the top row.
Once your tassels are positioned in the correct spot, use a hot glue gun to glue the second row of the tied side of the tassels onto the cutting board. Then glue the final tassel on the top, slightly overlapping row two to make a Christmas tree shape.
You can also make a larger tassel tree following the same method. Measure and cut 5 strands of yarn about 4-5” long. Fold the 5 stands in half grouped together. Cut another yarn strand about 12” long and tie the top of the strings together to make a small loop, wrapping the ends around the loop and tie off.
Repeat the steps above to make 6 tassels. Lay out the tassels on a small cutting board, 3 on the bottom row, 2 in the center row, and 1 on the top row.
Once your tassels are positioned in the correct spot, use a hot glue gun to glue the third row of the tied side of the tassels onto the cutting board.
Glue the second row of tassels onto the cutting board, slightly overlapping the third row.
Now glue the final tassel on the top, slightly overlapping row two, to complete your Christmas tree shape.
We love making these Christmas tree tassels, they are so much fun to make.
