Ella’s Kitchen the organic food brand have just launched their second cook book, The Yellow One, and this time it’s all about BAKING! Late last year we reviewed Ella’s Kitchen cook book, The Red One, and it quickly became one of our favourites cook books and the children have eaten some very tasty meals thanks to it. We were very excited to receive a copy of their new book.
With over 100 delicious recipes for chefs both big and small, it’s a great way to get the whole family involved in spending some quality time together having fun in the kitchen! As with all Ella’s Kitchen products, the aim of the book is to encourage healthy eating habits, by showing kids that healthy food can not only be really tasty but a lot of food fun, too.
The book is really well set out so was instantly appealing to my children. They had a good look through and finally decided we should try and make the Zingy Pineapple Polenta Fingers. They were so easy to make, only taking 10 minutes to mix together and 25 minutes in the oven.
My children were able to help measure out the ingredients and mix everything up. Both enjoyed stirring all the delicious ingredients together. These included polenta and ground almonds which make these treats a great gluten-free alternative to flour in baking. We don’t have any allergies but these sounded really interesting and I knew the pineapple would give them a lovely texture and be packed full of goodness too!
We were pretty pleased with the results of our baking session. The recipe for Zingy Pineapple Polenta Fingers made 6 slices so they didn’t last long but the children had so much fun I know we’ll be making them again!
Ella’s Kitchen The Big Baking Book was published by Hamlyn on the 2nd April 2014. The book has an RRP of £14.99.
