Monday Happy List – week 80

Posted on April 4, 2016September 23, 2016 by jenny

We’ve just got back from a wonderful holiday in Devon. It was a typical week by the sea and there was mini golf, ice creams, swimming in grandad’s pool, walks along the beach, a trip on the steam train and spending spare pennies on the pier. I could get used to spending so much time outdoors and I think it’s safe to say we tired the kids out every day. Thanks Matalan for supplying some of the toys and games we took along with us.

Whilst we were in Devon we spent a day in Exeter to escape the rain. We got to see the film Zootropolis which everyone enjoyed and I was able to shop the Cath Kidston sale! I finally got my hands on the graphic bird print scarf I’ve lusted after for months.

I don’t think anyone would have survived a week away without a few crafts. I packed some beach-themed sun catcher kits for the children to do. They loved being on the beach and we brought home bags of sea glass and driftwood to craft with. We made seaweed monsters, built sandcastles (with our own homemade sandcastle flags) and other crafty activities. We popped into Hobbycraft (I can never just drive past one!) where the children jumped at the chance to make some pom pom animals.

We came home via Clarks Village in Street and I got some lovely new clothes from Seasalt which is my favourite clothes shop at the moment. I’m hoping to go back to work soon so I really need to sort out my wardrobe and get rid of the mummy uniform.

My son has been asking if I could teach him how to sew when he turned 6, which he did a couple of week ago. I spotted a simple sewing kit in Hobbycraft with pre-punched felt pieces and a plastic needle. He really enjoyed making it so I can’t wait to make something else with him.

Have a great week everyone!

What a lovely trip away – love Devon and Exeter for a little leisurely ramble and love that you had the time to craft with your kids. What a wonderful way to spend a holiday! And that hole punched sewing aid from Hobbycraft is GENIUS!

    Thanks for sharing!

Your son has far better sewing skills than I have, I have never heard of the brand sea salt but I will be sure to check it out.
