The Clangers returns to our screens

Posted on June 12, 2015February 25, 2025 by jenny

A large part of my parenting journey seem to a full on nostalgia-fest, reliving with my own children some of my favourite childhood toys and tv programmes. Did you know the Clangers are coming back to children’s tv via CBeebies? The first episode will air at 5:30pm on Monday 15th June and will be on daily. We saw a brief advert for it yesterday and my children were intrigued by the little mouse-like creatures who live on, and inside, a small moon-like plane.

My favourite character has to be Granny Clanger who is fond of knitting. Luckily for them (and me) we were able to watch one of the new commissioned episodes called The Knitting Machine (to be aired on Thursday). In this particular episode Major Clanger invents a knitting machine, thinking this will save Granny ever having to make the effort to knit again.

But Granny likes knitting and when she sees the hideous garments the machine produces she challenges it to a great knit-off to determine who is the best knitter.

I don’t want to spoil the ending so you’ll have to watch the episode to see if there is a happy outcome!

I’m a big fan of stop-motion animation and I loved watching the new episode. My children enjoyed it too, once they had got used to the fact the Clangers speak only in whistles. In fact they were sent a couple of whistles and have been recreating the sound of the Clangers ever since!

I can’t wait to watch the new series with my children. Don’t forget the Clangers returns to our screens and the first episode will air at 5:30pm this Monday, 15th June 2015.

You can also follow the Clangers on both Facebook and Twitter to keep up with their news.
