Craft Stick Fairy Door

craft stick fairy door - the gingerbread house

I’m so excited to share a really sweet craft with you today. We love playing with our fairy gardens, yes we have two, and have been thinking of little things to make for them. I wanted to make a new fairy door for our upcycled milk bottle fairy house. We’ve been using a painted stone fairy door but needed something a bit bigger.

I experimented with craft sticks to make a new fairy door. I choose a rainbow of colours, placed them in the right order and used Titebond Wood Glue to hold them all together.

The finished door was larger than I needed but I love the rainbow look so thought I could place it in the garden for the children to find.

The first time they spotted it that came running to tell me what they had found it. They were really excited that there might be fairies living somewhere other than our fairy gardens.

This was a really fun craft to make and I think I might make a few more to take out and about with us. There’s a fairy house near us in a tree trunk and it might be fun to place a craft stick fairy door near it. Is there a word for this? Guerilla fairy gardening or something sounds good to me!
