Win a £25 voucher to spend at elephant in my handbag

As you know when I’m not blogging, or crafting with my children, I’m sewing. I always have a few projects on the go and my current project is the Union Flag quilt I’m making for my daughter. I’ve been trying to add some handmade touches to her room so I’m also making a patchwork cover for her vintage Lloyd Loom nursing chair. It was added to her room when we moved 2 years ago but I wanted to match the cover to her pink colour scheme.

Dear Stella hexagons

I found some gorgeous fabrics from elephant in my handbag, an online shop which sells fabric, ribbon and other scrummy whatnots to happy customers in the UK and across the world. They were kind enough to send me a gorgeous bundle of nautical Dear Stella Fat Quarters and I’ve been busy cutting them up to make hexagons. As much as my 3 year old loves pink I thought these fabrics were a great compromise – pink with an pirate edge!

I also used some pretty spotty fabric to back and bind the doll quilt I made for a recent swap. I can really recommend their great range and friendly service.

  1. My comfy armchair that I’ve had for a zillion years is in desperate need of some tender loving care

  2. Stop inspiring me so much 🙂 I have so little time and I want to start a bazillion projects now!! (doing something patchwork like has been on the to-do list for ages now)

I don’t actually know what I’d do with any fabric, but I’d do something. It’d live in my craft bag where all my lovely stuff lives until we have something which needs covering – although I might start patchwork tomorrow night at my knitting group now!!

  3. We have just recovered an old recliner, and are about to start on some footstools and dining chairs.

  4. Well, Since I have 4 chairs that I found at yard sales for the purpose of recovering and still haven’t recovered them, I think those are what I would like to work on 🙂

  5. I have a very old Liberty Chesterfield sofa that is in a very sorry state. It’s still so comfortable despite needing to be completely reupholstered so I’d so love to get her back to her former glory.

  6. My dining room chairs they are terrible and don’t help with a little one who likes to pull at them

  7. i have an old bedding box and i would love to cover it with some sort of bird print but im yet to find the right fabric lol ! fab giveaway x

  8. I recently created a patchwork using a similar method to your one here – I’ve just started picking up my needles again and this would be great to help me get going ! Looking forward to seeing the completed nursing chair cover!

  9. It would be wonderful to cover my daughter’s dressing table stool, she is 24 and loves pretty things, just as she did when she was little!!

  10. my sofa could do with a loving make over due to a rather cheeky dog we was looking after a week after purchasing new leather reclyner sofa ..sobs

  11. I have a lovely footstool that has seen better days but would look fantastic if it was recovered

  12. Sofa – I bought a bright green Sofa on a really sunny happy shiny day.. I am really struggling to find anything that goes well with it!

  13. I have an old dark wooden bench/seat storage box that my Aunty Edith gave me, i would love to make a cushion/ seat pad and cover for it. yellow and blue patchwork would look nice i think!!!

  14. I would love to cover my granddads favourite arm chair, it has over the last year become really old and tatty looking and I would love to jazz it up for him and get the cushion replaced so that it is comfortable for him! I would buy him a new chair but its his favourite and he will not let me bless him!!

  15. Some of the chairs we’ve got as seating areas for our cat – they’re an ugly brown and would look so much better in our space if they were a more vibrant colour!

  16. I’d love to be able to recover the sofa in the living room as I cant afford a new one at the moment so just have a throw on it. I have in the past covered the chair in my bedroom and the computer chair 🙂
