When I was pregnant the magazines I read were full of expensive nursing chairs. I began to believe that I wouldn’t be truly happy as a mother if I didn’t have an expensive chair and matching footstool to rest my weary body on. Fortunately I found an antique Lloyd Loom nursing chair in need of some TLC at a recycling centre. It had been painted many times and the original cover was a little threadbare but I knew it would be perfect for our nursery.
After some careful sanding, re-spraying and re-covering it now looks like this!
I covered the seat in some favorite Cath Kidston cream cowboy fabric and I have to say it’s perfect for those 11pm bottles!
That looks fab!!! I never did anything with the old rocking chair I had for Oli but have left it in his room with plans to make it pretty/do it up for the next one!! Will have to look you up for tips! 🙂

Just stumbled upon your blog searching for ‘antique breastfeeding chair!’
I have this exact chair, it was my Grans and it’s been sitting in my hallway looking very neglected since she gave it to me when we announced I was pregnant. Our daughter is now 20 months….. I’ve finally taken out the cushion and the primer coat is drying in the back yard right now!
Your chair looks great and it’s definitely given me some inspiration!!

Thanks for your comment. I couldn’t resist the chair when I saw it and it was really fun to re-paint it and make a new cover. The original cover looked beautiful but was just to worn to salvage. It’s quite comfy too in the middle of the night 🙂
How suitable and comfortable was it for nursing your baby?
To be honest, not that comfortable, but we still have it and my daughter sits in it to read her books!
