New app for Gruffalo fans – Gruffalo Games

As you know we are huge fans of the Gruffalo which is why I wanted to share the news of the first ever Gruffalo: Games mobile app with you. Launched this week, my children have already spent far too much time playing with the app so I think it’s going to be a big hit.

The Gruffalo: Games app, by Magic Light Pictures, is based on the much-loved picture book, The Gruffalo, written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.

The games are based on traditional and well-known children’s games that everyone will be familiar with, including snap, three-in-a-row, matching and jigsaws – but each with a monstrous twist!

In two of the games, 3 In A Row and Snap, children are able to play against The Gruffalo himself, who, despite his terrible tusks and terrible claws, is surprisingly good at card games. My 4 year old loved playing against the Gruffalo, and even daddy had to try and beat him.

The app is beautifully designed and illustrated and don’t forget to switch on sound too as it’s set to music from the films. It is aimed at 3-7 year olds and features six games. Gruffalo: Games captures the essence of the stories by featuring both The Gruffalo and other popular characters from the book, including Mouse, Owl, Fox and Snake.

My children love playing games on my iPhone and iPad and this is perfect for them (they are 2 and 4). My 2 year old obviously needs help but my 4 year can happily play the games on his own, interspersed with lots of shouts  of “Mum, look at this!”. I love the fact that they look forward to playing with apps as a treat and I know this is one they will go to time and again.

The Gruffalo Games app is available to download from the App store, priced 2.99. Please note I was sent a free code to try the app.
